Mahdi Ghuloom, Research Associate

Mahdi Ghuloom is a Research Associate at the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) – Middle East. He focuses on the Gulf States, with an eye on their economic competition, political institutions and diplomacy. Previously, he was a Regional Security Analyst at Le Beck International, where his role was to monitor and analyze regional developments that impact MENA countries’ security, whether from a geopolitical, social or economic perspective. Mahdi also worked as a researcher at the Bahrain Prime Minister’s Office, and the Bahrain Economic Development Board, where at some point he led efforts to research the Healthcare and Education sectors with an eye to best position them for attracting foreign investment. Mahdi is also currently pursuing a master’s in Practical Ethics at the University of Oxford’s St Cross College where he focuses on war and arms trade ethics, and holds another master’s in Policy Analytics from the University of Exeter, following a bachelor’s in Economics and Politics from the University of Essex.
